the trip - day 4

Day 4 was the start of our journey towards home.  We traveled from Bismark, ND to Sioux Falls, SD.

# of times Liz threw up: 0

# of stops: 3 or 4 (I can't remember.  We were all tired and everything was blurry by day 4!).  Here is what mommy remembers: stopping for gas, snacks, and a potty break an hour outside Bismark. About 30 minutes later pulling off to the side of the road to let Liz out for a run around break.  And, at some point down the road we stopped for another potty break, where we met up with Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Kerry who left Bismark after us!

Total trip time: 6.5 hours
# of times Kate went swimming: 1

the trip - day 3: the wedding

This post is long on pictures and short on words.  Enjoy!

Kate, our little geologist, was quite happy to collect rocks from the tables.

At this point in the afternoon Kate was not feeling well.  Thankfully, she recovered in time for the ceremony.

the trip - day 2

During Day 2 we traveled from Valentine, NE to Bismark, ND. Here are the day's stats: 

# of times Liz threw up: 0

# of stops: 3, which included: gas stop and breakfast at McDonald's in Pierre, SD, potty break and snacks at a small town gas station; side of the road about 30 minutes outside of Bismark to give Liz a break*

total trip time: 6 hours

# of times Kate went swimming: 0

Kate helped hand out presents at the rehearsal dinner.

*Liz and mommy had numerous breakdowns on our road trip.  To deal with Liz we pulled off to the side of the road and let her run around for a few minutes.  To deal with her angst, mommy ate lots of snacks.

the trip - day 1

During Day 1 of our epic journey we traveled from Lincoln to Valentine, NE. Here are the day's stats: 

# of times Liz threw up: 1 

# of stops: 5, which included: side of the road after Liz threw up; McDonald's for breakfast; Broken Bow for lunch and gas; Thedford potty break and snacks; side of the road at Sandhills outlook point 

total trip time: 6.5 hours

# of times Kate went swimming: 1

Kate did not want to get out of the car at the outlook point.

dyeing eggs

Kate dyed eggs this weekend. I hard boiled 2 dozen, 24, eggs which I thought would be enough. Kate thought it was a good start. As she grabbed the last egg, she asked if there were anymore. She seemed only slightly annoyed when I told her that was it. So, she problem solved and started re-dyeing the eggs. It kept her busy for at least 5 more minutes.
