help

I made homemade Runzas this weekend and I let the girls "help".  Playing with bread dough is an extreme thrill for both girls.  I do not necessarily need or enjoy the help.  I know how much they enjoy it so I try to manage my anxiety while they "help".
Liz was very involved in the process.  In the above photo she has her head down in the flour and dough.
Both girls were very intent on their work.
Kate loves to pat and pat and then, pat some more.
Eventually, Liz got a little too comfortable and starting helping herself to the flour.  She poured the flour on the counter, then swept it into a pile, which she then swept to the floor.  She repeated this too many times.  But, I wasn't counting; I was probably breathing into a paper bag at that point.
As you probably guessed each girl was covered in flour from head to toe!
This activity was a challenge for me, to say the least.  I enjoy baking, but I do not enjoy baking with helpers.  But, I know they love to be in the kitchen with me.  I really tried to hide my anxiety and sky high stress level.  I want them to have good memories of baking with me.  I also secretly and selfishly hope that by teaching them now, in only a few shorts years they will be able to do it all without me!
